This battleground shelf, the D-shelf, recognizes the obscurity of codes and regulations in relation to design and construction. Codes are pulled off the SHED’s shelf, dusted and opened to then demystify and decode the RULES to make them easy. It develops graphic, user-friendly versions of the required “rules of the game” for design and architecture students to develop responsible and safe work. The D-shelf brings code consultation to the student’s drawing board. As the site evolves, the TOS team will try to answer questions as they are “tossed” at them. Codes are not design obstacles but rather challenges that fortify design decisions keeping safety and welfare at the fore of all design decisions. The following CODE SUM-UPS are design tools but DO NOT substitute the actual regulatory documents that must be consulted by all professionals for REAL WORLD projects.
